In the 1950’s, the teenager was invented. Yes, invented. Look back to before then and teens were dressed like, acted like and spoke like older people. SO glad I was a teen in the 80’s. And so glad that as fashions typically take 20 years to come back around, that I can enjoy this latest flirtation with that decade – and of course the influences from the 1950’s that were so strong.

The bomber jacket is a cousin – though a slightly older cousin, as originally invented for fighter pilots in the war and were popularised by skinheads and Salt’n’Pepa. I was into both. Eclectic tastes.
The stone version is a modern take on it. The neutral colour and the gentle tapering and collar mean it can be worn over a shirt and tie for commuting and going to the pub after work, but doesn’t dress you down, this is your smart casual jacket for the seasons to come.
There are trends I’d rather not see make a comeback. Mankinis, neon, leggings, but next time this trend comes around I’ll reminisce from the sidelines with my walking frame, though I don’t intend to grow old too gracefully!
